A snake has to shed its old skin to grow into a new, healthier one.
Imagine if, instead of moving on, it sat there trying to fix the old skin. Mourning it. Clinging to it. Wishing it could become new again.
It would never move.
Such a creature fails to realize that nature is designed to lead it toward new, richer paths. Nature never intended the old skin to be repaired. It was meant to be released.
We aren't very different.
When we cling to a past that no longer fits us—old identities, old relationships, old environments, old versions of ourselves—we spend our energy trying to revive what has already served its purpose. Familiarity is not belonging.
The next chapter often requires different people (or different versions of the same people), different habits, different beliefs, and a different version of you. If you keep carrying yesterday into tomorrow, there won't be room for what your future is trying to offer.
Don't waste your life trying to repair a skin you were never meant to wear again.
